Alonnisos boasts fantastic, endless sunny and hot days.
The afternoons are the hottest, which is why everywhere closes between 2pm – 5pm for a siesta. Beware the odd ‘inclement’ day when it’s windy and slightly cloudy – these are the days you’ll burn yourself raw. It’s advisable to stay out of the sun during the afternoon and you’ll still get a good tan. (If you get sunburn, try natural yoghurt as an alternative to after sun – it takes all the heat out of the burn.) When it rains, it’s a downpour – but only for a short time. The sun will be on the horizon quicker than you know it.
